Every Day in May - Day 18 – Tell a story from your childhood

Day 18 – Tell a story from your childhood.  Dig deep and try to be descriptive about what you remember and how you felt.

Ugh, I hate these kinds of posts. Why, you ask? I'll tell you why. Because I really don't remember much. I have a horrible memory. Which sucks sometimes, but it's good because it makes it easy to forgive and forget. I remember I was hurt or upset but I won't remember why. If you cant remember why, then why be upset later, right?

Ok, enough rambling.
So a story from my childhood. I remember I used to ride bikes. All the time. With Heather (my bff from 2nd to 4th grade, until she moved) and Chris. Sometimes Melissa or Billy. And another girl, I don't remember her name, but her dad died from an aneurysm in 2nd grade (that was hard on all of us, I can't imagine what it was like for us.)

Anyway, we lived in the desert of SoCal, with man made hills. One specifically, we called Bike Hill. Oh Lord yall. The best part about it, the top was flat - and wide, you could get so much speed and go down one slope... Where some kids before us had created a lovely ramp that would vault you (what seemed like) 20 feet in the air. Reality, it was probably like 5 feet, but when your 4 foot tall... Over and over we would ramp that thing. Flying through the air, landing hard (and hopefully keeping control!). Whew! And if I ever heard of my children doing that stuff... Scratch that, I don't want to know.

Every Day in May - Day 17 – A Fav Photo of Yourself and Why

Day 17 –A fav photo of yourself and why

Given that I have limited pics on this computer, I only have the last couple of years to choose from.  So off to Facebook I went.  This one is always a fav for me.  First, its the beach - anything from the beach has to be a fav, right.  We are both tan as can be and looking good.  But my fav part.  Every time we go to take a pic together he always whispers something funny in my ear.  Every. Single. Time. I have so many pics of us in a similar pose - him whispering, me trying to keep composure for a good pic.
Love that man!

7 Quick Takes 5/17/2013

 - 1 -

That’s BabyGirl and Mr. Littlest talking.  She found her voice this week.  And of course it goes like this:  ah la la gla gla da da da da.  Which of course means she’s calling for daddy.  Mr. Littlest happily talks back, repeating her.  Which both find hilarious.
- 2 -

I may or may not have taken the children at 8:30 at night to play at the McD Playland and stayed until 10:30 while I blogged on one of the girls tablets.  (Isn’t that what the other mama’s were doing??)  Furthermore, I may or may not have loaded them back into the truck and upon hearing the almost instant quiet, decide to blog on the laptop until a little after 11… when McD turned the Wi-Fi off.

- 3 -

Don’t worry, Karma got back at me.  Of course they were out of sanitizer wipes.  Even after I asked for some.  I then made the desperate horrid mistake of putting the baby in a highchair without a cover… yea, you know what’s coming.  Of course the child that was in it previously had a stomach bug.  That promptly went through all of our children.  Stomach bugs while camp living sucks.  Oh, they refilled the wipes as we were leaving.  On the flip – it took just over a year for us to face this dilemma.

- 4 –

I’m really enjoying this Blog Every Day in May Challenge over at Story of My Life The Blog.  Even though it’s kind of challenging.  I’ve never blogged this often.  Ever.  A lot of her prompts are really making me think!

- 5 -

Missy here and her book.  It’s the scrapbook I started while in the hospital for her ‘broken heart’.  We have looked at this book at least once a day since she was able to carry it.  Since it is stored safely at Nana’s for now, as soon as we walk through the door, off she goes to get it.  Just tickles me!

- 6 -

Mr. and Bou making a jig to hold cans for Bou’s project tomorrow…  One is teaching building skills, one is teaching patience.  I’ll let you decide which is which.

- 7 -

Here's a bit of God's humor.
So tomorrow we are invited to a Crawfish Boil.  It's a southern thang yall.

Backstory:  For years and years and years, we have gone to an annual crawfish boil put on by some old friends.  Now you don't go to eat, although that is certainly a big part.  You go to hang out with friends.  All day.  And usually into the night.  Well two years ago those friends got a divorce.

Fast forward: New friends from our Church Life Group have an Annual Crawfish Boil.  Aww, how sweet!

This is where God's humor comes in.  They call it the "Eagles Nest Crawfish Boil".  The first church Mr. got excited about was Summit... formally known as Eagles Nest.

Yea, He's funny like that.

Everyday in May - Day 15 - A Photo an Hour

 Day 15 - A Photo an Hour

This is a placeholder page.  Until tomorrow.  Cause Blogger mobile stinks at inserting pics. But I promise, tomorrow I will have internet and get this blog all caught up.  Or at least mostly.

The day starts for me about 7:30 am.  The children usually sleep until about 8ish.  I use this time to listen to the quite before the chaos begins.

It gets going quick once the children wake up.  Breakfast has not even been had yet and we are riding bikes and playing basketball.

After breakfast, its chore time.  They are sorting laundry for our laundrymat visit.

Then its more "playtime" that mommy calls science.  Noting and comparing our seed growths and caterpillars.  And we found a turtle!

Then I got another Mommy of the Year award for running out of diapers.  Don't judge.

After a trip to Kroger and a quick lunch, its quiet time for the Littles while the Middles play.  More bike riding and flower pickin.

During quiet time we decided it was to hot.  Into the house we went and fired up the generator.

The remainder of quiet time didn't last long and we ran out of gas.  Sigh.

Dad got up, I forgot to take pics.  I remembered in time to finish out the night though!  Wednesday nights are church night for Bou.

The rest of the children and I head to McDonald's to play.

We decided to have movie night in the truck after getting Bou from church cause we didn't get more gas.  I know, way to go.  And since we watch movies on my phone, well obviously, I couldn't take a pic.  We watched the Aristocats, so just imagine that on a 4.7 inch screen teetering precariously on the sunglasses holder.

Mr. Littlest fell asleep in BabyGirl's carseat.

We move everyone upstairs and its prayers and bedtime.  Whew!

Everyday in May - Day 14 - 10 Things That Make Me Happy

10 Things That Make Me Happy

* - Venti Caramel Machiato, non fat with whip. But I will do a Grande if I must... Or a tall if pregnant.  A coffee will suffice if need be.  Maybe I'm not so picky.

* - A Nursling.  The closeness, the eye contact, the fix anything-ness, the grin that spills milk

* - A clean house.  Do I even need to say more?  Even better when it's cleaned by 'not me'

* - Football.  College.  SEC.  Hogs to be more precise.  Notre Dam is questionable now because of their "not exactly Catholic Catholic-ness".  Tailgating, football parties, the prep is as much fun as the game itself.

* - My Children's Laughter.  There is just something magical about it, especially when it's a good ole belly laugh.  It's infectious.  And the fact that it means they are having fun together vs attempting to kill each other, it's always a plus.

* - Being with my husband.  I don't care what we are doing - yard work, shopping at Lowes, watching a dude show (as long as it isn't to crude), whatever.  I just like being around him.

*  - Vodka. Or Jager.  Or coconut rum.  Or white wine. Yup, I said it.  And apparently, I'm not to picky with this either.   It helps with the sanity.  (Funny story, I was 30 years old before it occurred to me - I can have a beer for no other reason then cause I want one.  So I did.  That's what happens when you spend your 20's pregnant and nursing.)

* - Blogging. I mean, really, do I have to explain?  It's my journal.  And cheaper than therapy.

* - Our Families. The one thing we missed the most in Texas.  We don't see eye to eye on most things, we have had our share of struggles.  But they are there regardless.

* - My Momy Friends. Granted most of them are online, but nobody quite understands being a mom to many young ones like others that are or have been here.

Every Day in May - Day 13 - Issue a Public Apology

Issue a Public Apology

Edited to note:  The writing of this post was interrupted by sick children... One of which, in her sleeping state, attempted to find the edge of the bed where the bucket was... Taking the route over the baby.  Just pause and let that sink in for a moment.

Yea...

Think I'm excused.

My serious apology:

I would like to publicly apologize to a couple of groups.

First to the adults that were around for my teen years.  I'm sorry for the gray hairs.  I know I wasn't a horrible teen, but I know I wasn't exactly the easiest either.  I know I was the reason for hurt feelings, irritation, anger and on more than one occasion, all you could do was shake your head. I am happy to report that in my 20's I was mostly able to work through those issues.  Thanks be to God.

I would also like to apologize and say thank you to a small group of students.  You were never a group I called friends, thankfully not enemies either.  Actually, you were a group that spoke God's Word to me even though I wasn't in a place to actually hear it.  I apologize for my worldly responses to concepts I did not understand.  It was many years later, after our encounters, that your words would come back to me.  You planted a seed and when it was ready, it grew.  I pray that I am raising children who will be like you, Lights in the darkness.

My sarcastic apology:

I am soo sorry that I don't fit into your neat little box.  I'm sorry I don't buy what you sell without question.  Actually, even after I question and learn, I still usually decline your offer.  I may not choose the easiest path according to your definition but it is the path with trials and rewards that make the most sense to me.  It's just how I roll.

Every Day in May - Day 12 - What do you miss?

What do you miss?
Now this is an easy peasy prompt!

I always miss the beach.
The sound of the waves.
The smell of the ocean.
The view.
The reminder that I am so small but I still mean the world to my family and my God.
I miss driving around with no destination.
Spontaneous (inexpensive) weekend trips.
$1 gas
Shoot, $2 gas
I miss finished floors that are easy to clean.
White walls.
A place for everything.
A flush potty.  Desperately.
WiFi.
Pool parties.
Grass.
A couch.
I miss my husband when he's at work.
Quite when the children are full of energy.
Their noise when they are asleep.
The smell of a newborn.
And after freshly baptised.

And that took all of like 10 minutes with awake children!
